Description

(Copypasta'd from my very new, very awkward Piri-tan tumblr RP bloggu. Because WHOOPS I am into APH now, what are you going to do? XD)

Name: Republic of The Philippines (Republika ng Pilipinas)
Human Name: Luzviminda dela Cruz [ルスバイミンーダ・デラ・クルース]
Age: 20 years old
Date of Birth: June 12th
Height: 5’3”
Weight: Wala kanang pakialam doon!
Hair Color: Raven
Eye Color: Brown
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Occupation: Other than being the personification of the Philippines? She does a lot of housekeeping and babysitting for other countries, because the economy of her own home is somewhat lacking.
Family: Considers Malaysia and Indonesia as parental figures, whereas her subsequent (long term) occupation by Spain translates to her viewing him as an older brother. Japan and America also count as older brothers as they also spent time running the Philippines at various points of history (most notably during WWII for Japan, and a little bit before and just after the war for America). Considers China and India as distant relatives due to their history of trade.
Physical Description: Somewhat vertically challenged, with a noticeably large bust (due to her country’s bustling coconut industry) and lightly tanned skin with large, round eyes. She looks more Spanish than Asian due to the influence of Spain during her earlier days, and has long, wavy black hair that reaches past her hips.
Skills: She is an excellent cook, and would
make a perfect wife with her top notch housekeeping skills. UuU* She’s not too shabby when it comes to boating and climbing trees either (as both fishing and agriculture are important aspects of her country’s economy), and is surprisingly adept at adapting to foreign things.
Likes: Anything and everything Korean – She’s an unabashed fan of all things Korea has to offer, from K-pop to kimchi and everything in between. She’s also a fan of online video games and karaoke, and loves eating food from all over the world. She used to be hung up on Spain when she was younger, and was up until a few years back was obsessed with Japanese culture before becoming interested in Korea.
Dislikes: She’s a very patient person, but there is such a thing as being pushed too far. She doesn’t like being discriminated against or talked down to, but she’s a bit of a cry baby so she doesn’t really do much about it other than tattle to either kuya Spain or kuya America.
Goals: She’s really looking forward to the day she can stop worrying about her country’s economy…
Item(s) of Choice: The flower she wears in her hair was a present from her precious kuya Spain back in the day. ♥
Positive Traits: Hardworking, hospitable, loyal, and respectful. Though her hospitality is often mistaken for being a pushover – Which she actually is.
Negative Traits: Fatalistic, stubborn, possesses doormat tendencies, occasionally indolent (especially when the weather is particularly warm), and too emotionally invested at times. Occasionally lazy when given the opportunity.
Preferred Clothing: When she isn’t wearing (a simplified version of) her country’s national dress, she is often clad in a traditional, western-style maid uniform. On the rare occasion she wears her military ensemble, she keeps her hair tucked under her hat and pairs the traditional military jacket with a knee length pencil skirt and knee-high boots.
Hobbies: Listening to Korean and Japanese music, cooking, going out with friends and hitting the karaoke bars, and playing a lot of online video games (complete with enthusiastic swearing).
Interests: She was very interested in Japanese culture when she was younger, but nowadays she seems more focus on getting to know her neighbor Korea better. She has a quiet interest in America and Canada, because they are ‘those cool foreigners with pretty eyes’ and the propagated misconception that everything is better in America. She has worked for a number of Middle Eastern countries in the past, and continues to do so because of an economic need to do so.
Attracted To: Philippines finds things like blue eyes and fair skin really attractive, and is unconsciously attracted to three (physical) things: Glasses, above average height, and fair colored hair (a result of something known as ‘colonial mentality’). She tends to gravitate towards anyone who can (has) take(n) care of her, and anyone who can make her laugh.
Romantic Interest: She had quite a bit of a crush on her kuya Spain when she was under his care, and has a sort of on-again, off-again infatuation on America for the reasons stated above. As of the moment, she doesn’t seem to be specifically interested in anyone – To be honest, she’s rather dense when it comes to picking up on whether or not someone is interested in her like that.

A Brief History:

· Philippines is one of the youngest (and smallest) countries located in Southeast Asia.

· Though she is best known as Spain’s younger sister, it was actually China (and India) who first made contact with her, raising her and teaching her things such as speech (her modern day common tongue is full of words directly appropriated from both Chinese and Spanish), metallurgy, and mining. China also assisted her economy by consistently trading with her.

· A vast majority of her formative years were spent under the rule of Spain, often undergoing harsh treatment from his superior and often rebelling against him. It’s during this time that she becomes fully aware of her status as a country, and does most of her growing up.

· After several hundred years under the rule of Spain, she is eventually liberated by America, who promptly went about teaching her the American Way ™, having her learn the English language and contributing to her country’s health and welfare sectors. It’s during this time she develops a small crush on America, because “he’s just that cool. ♥” – Unfortunately, she also becomes economically dependant on America, and will often offer to work at his house in exchange for American goods.

· Sometime after this WWII breaks out, and she is taken under the control of Japan. Her time under him is a mixed endeavor, as she instantly takes to him (if the prevalence of Japanese things such as anime and electronics is anything to go by), she and her country are treated harshly by his superior. She spends several years of her life under Japan’s rule, before being liberated by America (and the rest of the Allied Forces) and finally granted her independence.

Personality:

· Philippines is naturally curious, almost childlike in her inquiries into things that most Western countries might find invasive, though there’s (almost) never any malice on her side of the questions.

· She tends to be rather sensitive about her race and her country, and being a bit of a cry baby, usually worries that other countries think lowly of her behind her back.

· She has a tendency to become easily jealous, particularly when it comes to those who hold a great deal of her affections, but she tries her best to hide such negative feelings as much as possible.

· She places value on things like hospitality, loyalty, and close family ties – She will gladly take a bullet for someone who she considers a friend, and is the kind of person who will forgive you for treating her harshly if you prove that you’ve changed (i.e: she doesn’t hold grudges).

· Philippines tends to have moments of incredible shyness, most often when she is dealing with countries she has never met or interacted with before, but quickly warms up to people – It isn’t unusual for her to become quickly attached to anyone she meets, and values things like friendship and intrapersonal relationships very much, being incredibly loyal to anyone who does anything nice for her.

Trivia:

· Her human name, Luzviminda, is the combined form of the Philippines’ three regions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The reason the mun chose this name is because when she was younger, her history teacher told her that this was a very popular name for Filipino girls back in the day. UuU*

· The reason Philippines is always working for other countries reflects the popularity of Overseas Foreign Workers (OFWs) her country produces in hopes of helping the economy.

· Philippines’ impressive bust size reflects the country’s coconut industry. Also, the mun just wanted a reason to have her ask people if they want to touch her coconuts. *rim shot*

· Her almost fangirlish interest in Korean culture is a reflection of the recent popularity of Korean entertainment in her country – Which up until recently, was focused on Japan.

· Contrary to what most might think, Philippines is not from Nyotalia, she just happens to be female because the mun feels like her country would actually be female.

· Her birthday, June 12th, is the day of Independence for the Philippines.
